A competion at Science magazine has produced some very stunning results. I have to think about how to make beautiful pictures out of bioinformatics.

siRNA succesful as therapeutics in primates

A new Nature paper shows that systemic delivery of siRNAs against ApoB actually works.
The siRNAs are delivered in liposomes. The treatment reduced blood levels of ApoB-100 protein, total cholesterol and LDL.

The authors did several test for toxicity of the treatment and found no ill effects.

This could well revolutionize drug therapy and fulfill the promise about gene directed interventions that earlier attempts at gene therapy have failed to give.

miPromotor website almost there

So I have made a website to go with our upcoming paper about the transcriptional regulation of microRNAs. The idea is that it should be useful for biologists interested in how specific microRNAs could be regulated. I think it is quite nice, although for the next website I am definately going to try using Ruby on Rails instead.

Snow!

Finally there is a lot of snow in Boston. Just as I am about to leave. What a shame.

Got a long way with the miPromotor paper now, but might have to come back here to finish it.
